Australia's "Year of the Rabbit" bullion issues have been produced annually as part of the Perth Mint's Lunar Series, now running across three successive series since 1996. This 2023 piece carries the sixth and final portrait of Elizabeth II, sculpted by Artist Jody Clark — the same effigy that appeared on circulation coinage from 2015 onward. She died on 8 September 2022, making this among the first posthumous commemorative bullion strikes issued under her image by any Commonwealth mint.
The .9999 fineness — four nines — is finer than the traditional .999 bullion standard and was adopted by Perth as a marketing differentiator in the competitive sovereign bullion market.
