Reverse description The reverse, engraved by Ago Aarand, features a majestic polar bear (Ursus maritimus) striding to the left across an arctic shoreline, rendered in high sculptural relief within the raised gold inner core. The animal is depicted in a naturalistic pose with detailed fur texture, set against a stylized rocky and water landscape evocative of the Canadian Arctic. The outer ring carries the country name CANADA arcing across the upper portion and the denomination 2 DOLLARS across the lower portion, both legends separated from the central design by a raised border. The contrast between the frosted proof finish of the gold centre and the polished outer ring creates a striking cameo effect characteristic of this special issue.
