| Obverse description | The obverse features the diademed and draped effigy of Queen Elizabeth II as sculpted by Dora de Pédery-Hunt, positioned in right-facing profile at the center of a gold-plated inner disc. The portrait is rendered in fine relief against a polished field, with the Queen wearing a tiara and drop earring in the regal tradition of Canadian coinage. The surrounding outer ring is finished in matte silver, bearing the legend ELIZABETH II D G REGINA arching above and the denomination 2 DOLLARS along the lower portion. A small maple leaf privy mark appears at the top of the inner ring border. The contrasting gold and silver finishes accentuate the two-tone artistic design characteristic of this commemorative series. |
