The "Path of Knowledge" release belongs to a long-running RCM series using large-format fine silver coins as canvases for glow-in-the-dark phosphorescent technology — a specialty the mint developed commercially in the 2010s and has since applied across dozens of collector issues. These are pure production-run commemoratives with no monetary policy behind them, sold directly to collectors at a significant premium over melt and never intended for circulation.
Elizabeth II's effigy on this coin is the fourth Machin-derived portrait, used on Canadian coinage from 1990 until her death in 2022 made this one of the final years of issue under her reign.
