Niue has operated a prolific licensed coinage program since the early 2000s, contracting with the New Zealand Mint to produce collector issues under pop-culture IP agreements with major studios. This piece was struck during the period when Lucasfilm licensing deals — prior to the 2012 Disney acquisition — were still managed directly by Lucasfilm Ltd. The changeover in ownership the following year restructured those agreements considerably.
