Obverse description Right-facing effigy of Queen Elizabeth II, portrayed at approximately 64 years of age, after the portrait by Dora de Pédery-Hunt. The Queen is depicted wearing the George IV State Diadem, a necklace, and drop earrings, rendered in fine relief. The encircling legend reads 'ELIZABETH II D•G•REGINA' along the upper periphery, with the date '1999' positioned in the lower field. The portrait is set within a plain field, characteristic of the fourth definitive effigy used on Canadian coinage.
