Reverse description The reverse presents a detailed portrait bust of Ludwig van Beethoven facing three-quarters left, depicted in period costume with a cravat and coat, set to the right of the field. To the left, a finely engraved view of Bonn Minster cathedral rises against the burnished background, and a French horn with sheet music is rendered in the lower centre of the composition. A facsimile of Beethoven's autograph signature appears in cursive script in the upper left field. The upper legend reads LUDWIG VAN BEETHOVEN · 1770-1827, and the denomination 2 DOLLARS is inscribed along the lower border within a beaded inner circle.
