Additional information

Lightbourn's fissinus — more correctly Lythrypnus lightbourni — is a tiny goby endemic to Bermudian waters, described as a distinct species only in 1982 by ichthyologist Victor Springer. The coin's appearance just twelve years after formal scientific recognition makes it an unusually prompt commemorative for a reef fish that most collectors have never encountered alive.
