Obverse description Right-facing crowned effigy of Queen Elizabeth II after the third portrait by Raphael David Maklouf, depicting the Queen wearing the George IV State Diadem, a pearl drop earring, and a pearl necklace. The legend ELIZABETH II arcs along the left field, TWO DOLLARS along the upper field, and PITCAIRN ISLANDS along the right field, all separated by raised dots. The date 2010 appears in the lower exergue, and a fine beaded border frames the entire design.

Additional information

Pitcairn's numismatic program has long been operated as a revenue stream for the island's administration — a community of fewer than fifty people has no meaningful circulation economy, so these issues are produced entirely for the collector market. The lanternfish series reflects a broader push by Pacific microstates in the late 2000s to leverage marine biodiversity themes for foreign coin sales.

Struck by a contracted European mint on behalf of the Pitcairn Island Council, KM#63 saw no island circulation whatsoever.
