Obverse description The diademed and draped effigy of Queen Elizabeth II in right-facing profile portrait by Irene Broadbent (IRB), set within a polished keyhole-shaped cutout that divides the coin into a mirrored black and silver composition. The surrounding field is elaborately decorated in low relief with Art Nouveau-style interlaced floral and foliate motifs, including stylised blossoms and curving tendrils framing both sides of the keyhole. The legends 2 DOLLARS, NIUE ISLAND, ELIZABETH II, and 2022 appear in the lower portion of the keyhole field in a decorative serif typeface.

Reverse description The reverse features a central decorative antique key oriented diagonally, its bow incorporating a heart motif and set against an elaborate yin-yang inspired composition divided into contrasting polished black and silver fields. The bow of the key is adorned with three faceted teal-green Preciosa crystal stones set in ornate filigree mounts. Interlocking mechanical gears, a keyhole escutcheon, a four-leaf clover, and a stylised tree motif populate the surrounding field. The Czech legend Klíč ke Štěstí appears in script lettering in the upper-left field, and the English equivalent the Key to Happiness appears in matching script lettering in the lower-right field.
