Additional information

The Feodorovskaya icon holds a specific dynastic significance in Russian Orthodoxy: it served as the personal protective icon of the Romanov family, and was the icon before which Alexandra Feodorovna prayed upon her conversion to Orthodoxy prior to marrying Nicholas II. The name "Feodorovna" adopted by foreign-born tsaritsas on conversion was taken directly from this icon's dedication.

Niue's licensing arrangement with the Perth Mint has produced dozens of orthodox icon coins since the early 2010s, most struck in gilded .999 silver to a standard 1 oz specification. The series targets the Russian and Eastern European collector market almost exclusively.
