| Obverse description | Right-facing effigy of Queen Elizabeth II, wearing a tiara and with hair elaborately styled, after the portrait by Ian Rank-Broadley. The peripheral legend reads ELIZABETH II to the left and SOLOMON ISLANDS across the top, with the denomination 2 DOLLARS to the right. The date 2014 appears in the lower field, and the engraver's initials IRB are incuse below the truncation of the portrait. |

The Solomon Islands has become one of the more prolific issuers of licensed Disney themed bullion and collector pieces, a program driven entirely by secondary market demand rather than domestic circulation needs. These coins are legal tender in name only — struck by external mints under license and never intended to see the archipelago's cash economy.
The 1991 animated film drew heavily from Jeanne-Marie Leprince de Beaumont's 1756 literary version of the tale, itself a sanitized retelling of Villeneuve's far darker 1740 original.
