Obverse description The sixth effigy of Queen Elizabeth II by Jody Clark, depicted in right-facing profile bust wearing the George IV State Diadem and the Victorian Coronation Necklace. The legend arcs around the upper periphery reading ELIZABETH II AUSTRALIA, with the denomination 2 DOLLARS and date 2020 positioned in the lower field. The purity designation 2oz 9999 Ag and the engraver's initials JC are also present in the field. The portrait is rendered in fine relief consistent with the piedfort striking technique.

The piedfort format — double the standard planchet thickness — originates with French medieval practice and was revived in the 20th century almost exclusively for presentation and proof sets. Perth adopted it selectively, and the added mass in .9999 fine silver is immediately apparent in hand.

The 75th anniversary of the Pacific War's end in 2020 gave Australian mints particular cause to commemorate: the formal Japanese surrender was signed aboard USS Missouri on 2 September 1945, with Australian Lieutenant General John Northcott among the Allied signatories.
