Reverse description The reverse presents a standing kangaroo in profile, adapted from the historic 1853 Port Phillip pattern design, set within a beaded inner circle. The inscription PORT PHILLIP arcs above the kangaroo within the inner circle, while the date 1853 appears in the exergue beneath the animal. The legend TWO DOLLARS arcs prominently across the upper field outside the inner circle, and AUSTRALIA is inscribed along the lower periphery. Decorative lattice or cable ornaments flank the central device on either side within the outer border.
