Additional information

The "Mini Roo" series was Perth Mint's response to demand for fractional gold at an accessible entry price — a deliberate push into a market segment long dominated by fractions of the Krugerrand and Maple Leaf. At half a gram, these required their own dedicated planchet supply and striking equipment calibrated for tolerances difficult to maintain at that scale.

The fourth portrait of Elizabeth II, by Ian Rank-Broadley, was adopted by Australian coinage in 1999 and remained current until 2019.
