Obverse description Central device depicts the Leduc No.1 oil derrick in high relief, surrounded at its base by crowds of spectators and parked period automobiles commemorating the discovery of oil on February 13, 1947. The denomination $2 appears to the left of the derrick, the date Feb. 13 1947 to the right, with the legend LEDUC No.1 across the upper field and ALBERTA, CANADA along the lower rim within a beaded border.
