| Reverse description | Deeply sculpted high-relief scene depicting the Resurrection of Christ set within a rocky tomb interior. To the upper left, the luminous risen Christ stands draped in flowing robes, his figure emerging in brilliant relief against the rough-hewn stone wall. At centre, a winged angel in dynamic pose kneels and gestures upward in reverence, while a prostrate Roman soldier lies collapsed at lower right, overcome by the divine event. To the far right, a wooden cross is partially visible against the tomb wall, reinforcing the biblical narrative. The legend 'THE RESURRECTION' is inscribed in the lower exergue in Latin capital letters. The antiqued surface treatment enhances the dramatic chiaroscuro effect of the composition. |
