Niue has served as a licensing vehicle for novelty bullion issues since the 1990s, with its sovereignty essentially leased to private mints producing collectibles that circulate nowhere. This piece is part of a Tetris-branded series — the puzzle game whose intellectual property has been licensed, disputed, and re-licensed across decades since Alexey Pajitnov designed it in 1984 while working at the Soviet Academy of Sciences, famously receiving no royalties until the rights were finally returned to him in 1996.
KM#6015.1 distinguishes this Z-tetromino shape from companion pieces in the set, each struck to fit together physically when laid flat.
