Obverse description The obverse is struck on the underside of a skateboard-shaped silver planchet, presenting an oval field at center bearing the Public Seal of Niue — a crowned heraldic shield depicting a palm tree, flanked by decorative scrollwork, with two crossed weapons below and a ribbon inscribed ATUA NIUE TUKULAGI. The circular legend reads NIUE ISLAND to the left and TWO DOLLARS to the right, framing the seal. The date 2023 appears below the seal in the lower field. Four red-colored skateboard trucks with polyurethane wheels are attached to the reverse face of the planchet, completing the three-dimensional sculptural presentation. The coin forms the first installment in a three-part series.

Additional information

Niue has long operated as a vehicle for New Zealand-licensed novelty bullion, and this piece is squarely in that tradition. The island's 1989 agreement with New Zealand allows it to issue legal tender denominated in New Zealand dollars, a jurisdictional quirk that every major bullion novelty house has exploited since the early 2000s.

The "1/3" designation marks this as the first in a three-part skateboard-shaped series — the full set interlocks to form a complete board outline across three two-ounce coins.
