Niue's legal tender licensing program has for decades allowed the tiny Pacific island to issue collector coins under New Zealand's monetary umbrella, generating revenue that dwarfs anything its 1,600-odd residents could produce through conventional taxation. This piece is part of that apparatus — a DC Comics character coin riding the same licensing pipeline that has produced dozens of Niue issues since the early 2010s.
Sinestro, introduced by DC in 1961, was originally a Green Lantern before defecting — a narrative arc that made him one of the more psychologically layered villains of the Silver Age.
