| Reverse description | The gold-plated central disc depicts a polar bear walking to the right across an Arctic ice floe, with a mountainous landscape rendered in low relief in the background, all executed in finely detailed proof finish. The inner disc is set within a broad polished silver outer ring bearing the legend CANADA arcing across the upper field and 2 DOLLARS arcing across the lower field in raised capital letters. The engraver's initials BT appear incused in the right field of the inner disc, just below the bear's hindquarters. The composition references the iconic Canadian two-dollar circulation design first introduced in 1996, here elevated in a premium proof presentation with selective gold plating on the central motif. |
