The Fender Stratocaster was designed in 1954 largely by Leo Fender, who could not himself play guitar. The body contours — a deliberate departure from the slab-bodied Telecaster — were shaped partly in response to complaints from working musicians about comfort during long sets. Eric Clapton's relationship with the instrument, particularly "Blackie," his composite Stratocaster assembled from parts of three 1950s guitars purchased at a Nashville shop in 1970, made the model synonymous with British blues-rock for a generation.
Solomon Islands has issued prolifically under licensing arrangements that have no connection to the nation's economy or monetary history — this is a bullion collectible in sovereign coin format. One troy ounce of .9999 fine silver.
