Obverse description The coat of arms of Niue occupies the central field, depicted as a circular shield bearing a stylized flowering plant rendered in high relief against a recessed background, surrounded by a zigzag-patterned border. The shield is flanked by a wreath of elongated olive-like leaves extending from two crossed traditional Niuean paddles at the base, which bear the legend ATUA NIUE TUKULAGI on a curved scroll. A royal crown surmounts the entire composition at the top of the field. The denomination 2 DOLLARS appears as a legend along the upper edge of the square flan, while the date 2023 is inscribed at the lower left, accompanied by the mint mark and the fineness notation Ag 999 2 oz at the lower right.

Additional information

Niue has operated as a prolific licensing partner for foreign mints since the 1990s, issuing commemorative silver under its name while retaining virtually no production role — the actual striking is typically contracted to the Perth Mint or Polish State Mint depending on the series. This particular issue belongs to a crowded field of large-format bullion-adjacent pieces that proliferated following Charles III's accession in September 2022, as mints worldwide rushed botanical and wildlife themes to market under the new effigy licensing window.
