Reverse description The reverse presents a large yin-yang symbol rendered in high relief, with the dark half depicted as a polished mirror field and the light half filled with elaborate baroque acanthus-scroll engraving of exceptional depth and artistry. Each half contains a small opposing circle, the upper circle engraved with fine foliate scrollwork and the lower circle left as a plain polished void. The word EQUILIBRIUM appears on a small raised banner scroll at the top of the field, and the denomination 2 DOLLARS is inscribed on a bold black ribbon scroll across the lower field. The design is enclosed by the same Celtic-inspired knotwork border as the obverse.

Additional information

Niue has operated as a coin-issuing vehicle for foreign mints and bullion programs since the 1980s, functioning under a currency agreement with New Zealand that lets it place its name on legal tender without maintaining any independent monetary infrastructure. The "Equilibrium" branding here is a series or program designation, not a historical or political reference — this is a modern bullion or collector issue produced almost certainly by a European refinery under license.

Charles III's first full year as effigy-holder for such programs followed his accession in September 2022, displacing Elizabeth II's portrait from dozens of active series simultaneously.
