| Obverse description | The Public Seal of Niue is centrally depicted, featuring the national coat of arms surmounted by a royal crown and encircled by a wreath, with the legend PUBLIC SEAL OF NIUE around the circumference and the motto ATUA NIUE TUKULAGI on a scroll below. The denomination TWO DOLLARS appears in the upper field, and the date 2023 is inscribed below the arms. At the bottom of the field, the inscriptions 1 oz 999 Fine Silver and the Marvel copyright notice appear. The coin is struck in a shaped flan designed to silhouette the Captain Marvel character. |

This is one of dozens of licensed Marvel issues produced under Niue's longstanding agreement with The Walt Disney Company, which has used the island nation's minting authority since 2011 to produce legal tender collector coins it would otherwise have no mechanism to issue. Niue's nominal sovereignty over its coinage is real — New Zealand administers its external affairs but not its currency — making it a genuinely valid issuer despite a permanent population under 2,000.
Gold-plated .999 silver one-ounce issues in this format are produced in strictly limited mintages, typically capped at or below 5,000 pieces globally.
