Niue has leveraged its monetary agreement with New Zealand since the 1990s to issue an unrelenting volume of licensed collectibles bearing face values that bear no relationship to circulation reality. This piece is part of Marvel's ongoing licensing arrangement, which has produced dozens of silver issues across multiple mints and distributors since roughly 2014.
New Zealand Mint struck this under that framework. The gold plating is applied post-strike.
