Additional information

The Perth Mint has produced lunar series coins continuously since 1996, making this the third full cycle through the twelve-animal calendar. The dragon year issues consistently outperform other animals in both mintage sellouts and secondary market premiums — the dragon holds particular significance in Chinese cosmology as the only mythological creature in the zodiac, and the mint's distribution network is heavily weighted toward Southeast Asian and diaspora collector markets.

This is also the first lunar dragon issue to carry Charles III's effigy, following Mary Gillick's portrait of Elizabeth II and then Jody Clark's — a reign change mid-series that numismatists will note for decades.
