Issued specifically to mark Elizabeth II's death in September 2022, this New Zealand gold piece uses Charles III's first official portrait — the effigy by Martin Jennings, adopted across Commonwealth coinage in late 2022 and early 2023. New Zealand was among the earlier Commonwealth nations to release memorial gold in this format, with the Reserve Bank coordinating the issue through the New Zealand Mint rather than the Royal Mint.
