Obverse description Effigy of King Charles III facing left, rendered in high relief against a deeply mirrored proof field, with selective gold gilding applied to the border and legend areas. The uncrowned, draped bust is the first official portrait of Charles III for Australian coinage, sculpted by Dominic Thomas, whose initials 'DT' appear in the field to the right of the truncation. The circular legend reads 'CHARLES III AUSTRALIA' around the upper portion of the coin, with the denomination '2 DOLLARS' inscribed along the lower arc, separated by raised dot ornaments at each side.
