Obverse description The obverse presents the first official effigy of King Charles III for Australian coinage, an uncrowned left-facing portrait sculpted by Darryl Twigg and executed in high relief with fine detailing of the hair, facial features, and collar. The legend CHARLES III arcs across the upper left field and AUSTRALIA across the upper right, each separated by raised dot stops, with the denomination 2 DOLLARS inscribed along the lower arc. The engraver's initials DT appear below the portrait truncation. The design maintains the restrained, neoclassical character characteristic of Commonwealth royal portraiture.
