The name "Stratocaster" was itself nearly lost before it began — Leo Fender reportedly coined the term in 1954 partly to echo the aeronautical optimism of the postwar period, and the guitar entered production the same year with virtually no market testing. The 70th anniversary falls in 2024, which explains this issue's existence.
