Obverse description Printed on bright white paper by Rawdon, Wright, Hatch & Edson, this obsolete note carries a bold red-orange letterpress underprint reading TWO across the centre, serving as a denomination protector. Five intaglio-engraved agricultural vignettes are arranged across the upper register, including a farmer ploughing with a horse team at left of centre and a woodcutting scene at right of centre, with arabesque numeral panels at each corner. The bank title Bank of Macomb County appears in large script across the middle field, with the State of Michigan charter authority lettered along the top border and the issuing date of April 1st, 1858 within the body text.
