| Reverse description | The copper-nickel centre features a right-facing bust portrait of Pope Benedict XVI, depicted wearing a zucchetto and papal vestments with finely engraved drapery detail. The effigy occupies the majority of the central disc, rendered in high relief with naturalistic modelling of the facial features. The brass outer ring carries the legend BENEDICTE XVI along the upper arc and PAPA 19.4.2005 along the lower arc, the date commemorating his pontifical election on 19 April 2005. |
