| Obverse description | Draped armoured bust of Ludwig Wilhelm, Margrave of Baden (1655–1707), facing right, wearing an elaborate period wig with flowing curls. The effigy is rendered in high relief in a Baroque portrait style. The circumferential legend reads LUDWIG WILHELM MARKGRAF VON BADEN 1655-1707, separated into segments around the field, with the birth year 1655 to the left of the bust and the commemorative year 2005 to the right. A beaded border runs along the inner rim. |

| Additional information |
No such coin exists in official German federal coinage. The Federal Republic discontinued the Deutsche Mark on 1 January 2002 when euro coins became legal tender, and no subsequent "nostalgia edition" 2 DM piece was struck by the Bundesrepublik as circulating or commemorative legal tender. Items sold under that description are almost certainly privately minted medals with no official status.
