Reverse description Central device depicts the Tetragrammaton in Hebrew characters (יהוה) set within a radiant solar disc, rendered with bold sunrays emanating outward in all directions, symbolizing divine authority and Protestant iconography fashionable in late sixteenth-century Scandinavian coinage. The Hebrew inscription is prominently positioned at the center of the sun. Surrounding the solar motif is a beaded inner circle, beyond which runs the Latin legend MONETA NOVA, identifying this as a new coinage issue. The composition reflects the religious and political aspirations of Duke Karl during his regency.
