| Additional information |
The Isle of Man has issued commemorative coinage through the Pobjoy Mint under a remarkably liberal licensing arrangement for decades, producing themed series on subjects well outside the island's own history. Yggdrasil — the world-tree of Norse cosmology connecting the nine realms — has genuine regional relevance here: the island was under Norse rule from roughly the 9th century until 1266, and the Manx cultural identity retains measurable Scandinavian substrate, including in place names and the Tynwald parliament itself, one of the oldest continuous legislative assemblies in the world.
