The "Let Us Remember" title places this squarely within Gibraltar's long-running commemorative program marking the 75th anniversary of the end of World War II in 2020. Gibraltar's wartime role was anything but peripheral — the colony was almost entirely evacuated between 1940 and 1944, its civilian population shipped to Britain, Jamaica, and Madeira while the Rock functioned as a fortress and convoy hub. The .375 fineness — 9 carat — is characteristic of Gibraltar's lower-threshold gold commemoratives, keeping spot costs down while retaining the gold designation.
