Reverse description A highly detailed frontal view of the Banco Central de Costa Rica headquarters building dominates the central field, rendered in a modernist architectural style with vertical window columns and a prominent flag above the roofline. The denomination numeral 2 appears in large characters below the building, with the word COLONES beneath it. A small oval punch containing the fineness mark 1000 appears to the right of the numeral 2 on certain varieties. The circular legend BANCO CENTRAL DE COSTA RICA 1950-1970 runs along the upper periphery within a beaded border, commemorating the twentieth anniversary of the bank's founding.
