Obverse description Bare-headed right-facing effigy of King Christian VIII, rendered as a finely detailed truncated bust with naturalistically engraved curly hair. The portrait is executed in high relief in a neoclassical style, with the neck truncation bearing the engraver's initials 'C.C.' below. A circular Latin legend frames the effigy along the toothed border, reading 'CHRISTIANUS VIII D: G: DANIÆ V: G: REX', attributing the king's sovereignty by divine grace over Denmark, the Goths, and the Wends. The open field around the bust is smooth and unadorned, accentuating the sculptural quality of the portrait.

Reverse description The central device consists of a large crowned and elaborately quartered royal shield bearing the Arms of Denmark and its territories, encircled by the collar of the Order of the Elephant. The shield is supported on either side by wild men (savages) rendered in high relief, each armed with a club and standing on a decorative base bar bearing the engraver's name. A broad crowned royal mantle spreads behind the entire heraldic composition. The denomination '2 CHR D'OR' is inscribed in the upper field, divided by the crowned mantle, while the date appears on the lower bar flanked by the mintmaster's initials and the mint mark symbol.
