| Reverse description | Central denomination numeral '2' occupies the right-centre field, flanked to the left by two pendant clusters of kowhai (Sophora microphylla) flowers and foliage rendered in naturalistic relief, with branching pinnate leaves arching around the upper and lower portions of the design. The engraver's initials 'JB' (James Berry) appear in small characters at the base of the central motif. The overall composition fills the field to the inner border, with no additional legend, giving prominence to the indigenous floral subject as a symbol of New Zealand's national identity. |
