Additional information

Seychelles remained a British Crown Colony throughout this coin's entire production run, administered from Mahé under a governor appointed by London. The archipelago wouldn't achieve independence until 1976, meaning these pieces circulated in an economy still largely shaped by copra and cinnamon exports — industries that kept wages, and therefore small denominations, in constant practical use.
