Obverse description Bare-headed, laureate effigy of Queen Elizabeth II facing right, after the portrait modelled by Mary Gillick, with the hair arranged in a chignon and bound with a laurel wreath. The truncation of the bust is plain and unadorned. The circular legend reads '+ QUEEN·ELIZABETH·THE·SECOND' around the periphery, following the scalloped contour of the flan. A fine beaded border runs along the inner edge of the scalloped rim.
