Obverse description The obverse features the Maltese coat of arms at centre, depicting a traditional Maltese dgħajsa (water taxi) beneath a radiant sun, all enclosed within a circular beaded border. The national legend 'REPUBBLIKA TA' MALTA' curves along the upper periphery in raised Latin lettering, while the date '1986' appears in the lower field flanked by two decorative dots. The arms are rendered in low relief with fine detail, characteristic of the engraving style of Emvin Cremona.
