Obverse description The quartered coat of arms of Andorra occupies the central field, rendered in fine relief with ornate scrollwork framing the escutcheon. The shield displays the traditional four quarters of Andorra — the mitre and crozier of the Bishop of Urgell, the pales of Catalonia, the bars of the Count of Foix, and the two cows of the Viscountcy of Béarn. A ribbon cartouche beneath the arms bears the Latin national motto VIRTVS VNITA FORTIOR. The curved legend PRINCIPAT D'ANDORRA arcs along the upper periphery, with the date 2003 inscribed in the lower field.
