Andorra began issuing its own euro-cent denomination coinage in 2002, but these pieces were not legal tender for general circulation — they were produced solely as collector sets, as Andorra had no formal monetary agreement with the EU at the time. That agreement didn't arrive until 2011, ratified in 2013. The grandalla, a daffodil native to the Pyrenean highlands, was adopted as the national flower in 1991.
