Reverse description The reverse features the word INDEPENDENCIA prominently inscribed across the center of the field within a recessed horizontal band, flanked above and below by a radiating sunburst pattern of fine engraved striations emanating from a central point. The date range 1810-1890 is positioned along the lower arc of the field, commemorating the 80th anniversary of Mexican independence declared on 15 September 1810. The legend 15 SETIEMBRE arcs along the upper periphery above the sunburst. A toothed border encircles the entire design.
