| Reverse description | The reverse presents a dramatic high-relief depiction of Odin, the chief deity of Norse mythology, rendered as a stern, bearded warrior facing the viewer frontally. He wears an elaborately detailed horned helmet adorned with a central jewelled boss and intricate knotwork, above which the Valknut symbol — three interlocked triangles — appears within a circular Norse-patterned arc flanked by large curving horns. Two ravens, Huginn and Muninn, perch at either side of Odin's shoulders, their wings partially spread. Odin's hands grasp two crossed axes or spear-like weapons, their hafts braided and their heads decorated with runic characters. The entire composition is set within the same shaped, shield-like planchet as the obverse, with the antique silver finish accentuating the deeply sculpted relief. |
