Additional information

Ghana's zodiac bullion series, launched in the early 2020s, was part of a broader push by the Bank of Ghana to develop a collectible silver program competing with established African sovereign issues from the South African Mint and the East African Trading Company market. The 2 Cedi denomination exists purely as a legal tender vehicle for the bullion format — it bears no meaningful relationship to the cedi's actual purchasing power, which had been under sustained pressure from dollar-denominated debt servicing costs Ghana was managing through the same period.
