Obverse description Central field displays a rampant horse facing left, the dynastic emblem of the Kingdom of Naples, rendered in low relief consistent with hammered coinage of the period. Flanking the horse are the numeral II on the left side, indicating the denomination of 2 Cavalli, and a crowned monogram or floral ornament to the right. A partial Latin legend reading + PHILIPP III D G REX ARA encircles the design, referencing Philip III of Spain as King of Aragon and Naples. The flan is irregular in shape, typical of hand-struck bronze coinage, with a granular, worn surface exhibiting natural bronze patina.
