Obverse description Round cast bronze coin featuring a central square perforation surrounded by four Chinese characters in regular script (kaishu), reading clockwise from the top: 至元通寶 (Zhiyuan Tongbao, meaning 'Circulating Treasure of the Zhiyuan era'). The characters are rendered in bold, well-defined strokes and occupy the four quadrants of the field. A raised inner rim borders the square hole, and a plain outer rim frames the entire composition.
