| Obverse description | Cast iron coin of round form with a central square perforation. Four Chinese ideograms in Regular script (kaishu) are arranged in the traditional cruciform reading order — top, bottom, right, left — around the central square hole, reading 紹熙通寶 (Shaoxi Tongbao). The characters are boldly rendered in raised relief against a flat field, with inner and outer raised rims framing the inscription. The style is characteristic of Southern Song dynasty cash coinage issued under Emperor Guangzong during the Shaoxi reign era (1190–1194). |
